| Each layer of wood was
laid on a bed of oakum and 12 to 15 inch steel spikes were driven into 1/2 inch holes
drilled every 6 feet along the structure. Both young men became very good at sitting
astride the logs to hammer them home. By July
11th. 1935 all was ready, although John Barrington had left the district in March. the oil
lamps were hung and the only regret was that a shingle roof had been too expensive.
This drawing was produced circa 1934, just look
at the detail on the end of the logs!
